General Description

The Amino Acids Plasma Test provides different views into body function and can be utilized by the medical practitioner for different purposes. The Amino Acids Plasma Test shows the level of amino acids available for building structural, transport, and storage proteins, building immunoglobins, and making enzymes. Amino acids play a role in many other body functions as well, including neurotransmitter functioning, cholesterol and carbohydrate metabolism, and detoxification processes.

Turn Around Time

The turn around time for this test is 1-3 weeks, unless unforeseen circumstances arise.

Specimen Requirements

7 mL of whole blood in a lavender top EDTA tube is required. Specimen must be returned within 24 hours of the collection. This test is not available internationally.
