Speaker Bios

William Shaw, Ph.D. (USA)
Was the former director of Endocrinology and Toxicology at Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO. He has developed a new metabolic profile test for the diagnosis of autism using newly discovered compounds in the urine of autistic children. He currently is the Director of The Great Plains Laboratory, Inc. for Health, Nutrition, and Metabolism, a laboratory specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic disorders such as autism, PDD, hyperactivity, inborn errors of metabolism, depression, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue. Dr. Shaw has presented information about his research throughout the world. The last ten years of Dr. Shaw’s research have been devoted to research on the metabolic, infectious, nutritional, and immunological causes of autism. Dr. Shaw, along with several coauthors, recently published the second edition of his book Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD. What’s going on? What can you do about it?, a comprehensive and easy to read guide to the most current research and medical therapies for autism and PDD. This book has now been translated into French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Indonesian and is now one of the most well-read books in the field of autism.


Dr. Leticia Dominguez-Shaw (MEXICO-USA)
Dr. Dominguez studied stomatology at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico City. Her medical practice was combined with teaching for over 15 years. She is the co-founder and president of the Liga de Intervención Nutricional contra Autismo e Hiperactividad A.C. (League of Nutritional Intervention against Autism and AD(H)D). Dr. Dominguez has spoken at several Autism and ASD-related international congresses and conferences in Mexico, the United States, Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. She specializes in talks about Autism, AD(H)D, Metabolic Abnormalities in Developmental Disorders, Disabilities, Gluten-Free Casein-Free Diet, Impact of Dental Amalgam Fillings in Health, and Risks of Fluoride. Dr. Dominguez has spent the last few years researching and promoting the benefits of biological treatments for autism and PDD. She is the author of “Mejorando la Calidad de Vida de tu hijo autista o hiperactivo” (Improving the Life Quality of your Autistic and Hyperactive Son) and has written several articles about autism. She is also a mother of an autistic teenager.
