and on the important nutritional supplements. Dr. W. Shaw, USA

11.05 h Recent discoveries on the metallothionein and Copper/zinc imbalances
Dr. W. Shaw, USA
Metallothionein, the protein responsible for regulating levels of metals in the body, is found to be frequently in abnormal levels in children with autism. Great Plains, the first laboratory that has developed stable testing for metallothionein levels, has carried out extensive research of samples with such abnormalities. Dr. Shaw has found that people with autism and PDD may display both high and low metallothionein levels, depending on such factors as excess of heavy metals in the body, zinc deficiency or genetic predisposition. All these factors will be cover in detail in the talk.
Imbalances of copper/zinc are also frequently observed in autism, with excessive levels of ¨free¨ copper (toxic form of copper) and deficiencies of zinc. The speaker will explain the significance of such abnormalities and treatments.
12.15 h Stehlunch
13.30 h Zusammenarbeit mit Eltern autistischer Kinder -
Fallbeispiele aus der Praxis. Dr. Brigitte Esser
14.45 h Kaffeepause
15.05 h Case Studies, Physician Training
Dr. W. Shaw, USA
During this session, the speaker will go over the results of the common metabolic tests for autism and PDD, such as Organic Acids, Yeast Culture, Comprehensive Stool Test, Food Allergies, Heavy Metals, Metallothionein, and others, and explain most significant abnormalities. He will bring up sample test reports for people with different health disorders and suggest the most efficient products of traditional and natural medicine to treat those problems. Interactive Question-and-Answer and discussion session can be included for all the participating physicians to exchange opinions and experiences.
