Dr. Woody McGinnis,
MD, Ashland OR, received his education at Dartmouth College and the
University of Colorado. He has specialized in Behavioral Nutrition for
the past decade, and devotes all his energies to education and research.
Originally motivated by his own son's physical and behavioral challenges,
Dr. McGinnis finds that underlying physical illness is often the primary
determinant of abnormal behavior in both children and adults with diverse
diagnoses.
Autism and ADHD are areas of particular interest. Suboptimal nutritional
status, gastrointestinal pathology, food intolerance, chronic infections
and toxic accumulations typify these children. Dr. McGinnis has found
that careful observation; laboratory testing and specific treatment
of these physical problems can often lead to substantial improvement
of difficult behavioral symptoms.

Lori
Knowles is a mother of four children, the youngest of which had a diagnosis
of autism at two and a half. Not knowing anything about the disorder,
she read Dr. Shaw's book Biological Interventions for Autism and PDD
which "lit a fire" that inspired her to seek all possible
treatments for her child. After extensive research and personal experience,
Lori has become very knowledgeable about the role of different therapies
(including diet intervention, supplements, yeast/bacteria intervention,
detoxification and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). Combining both
behavioral and biological interventions have enabled her son to make
the most progress. Lori currently works with Dr. Shaw at the Great Plains
Laboratory where she is an advocate for parents seeking to improve their
children's lives.
